Summit Overview

The goal of this summit is to share best practices, foster collaboration, and provide a forum for peer-to-peer interaction among Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) in clinical practice who are actively engaged in the care of oncology patients. This summit will provide APP learners a broad scope of the latest developments and important current concepts in the multidisciplinary treatment of oncology patients. Additionally, the summit offers an intimate learning environment to facilitate interaction between attendees and faculty so that clinicians can discuss practical patient management issues and then apply their learning once they return to practice.

A Glimpse Into the Sessions

Recently Approved Oncology Drugs: New Indications and Clinical Experience

In the span of just one year, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved 13 new therapies for more than 16 types of cancer. The number of new approvals and new indications will continue to grow each year.  Be sure not to miss this timely update on the most recent advances in cancer therapies.

Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T-cell Therapy:
A Case-based Review for Advanced Practice Providers

ASCO named adoptive cell immunotherapy as the clinical cancer Advance of the Year in 2018. By genetically re-engineering a patient’s own immune T cells, CAR-T cells are custom made to work against the cancer in an individual patient. The 2018 Nobel Prize in medicine was awarded for this key cancer breakthrough. APPs who want to be on the cutting edge of cancer care will not want to miss learning more about the T-cell harvesting process, the overall patient experience and how to safely manage the potential toxicities associated with CAR-T cell therapy.

Incorporating Primary Palliative Care Into Your Practice

All clinicians who care for seriously ill patients should understand the domains of primary palliative care and be encouraged to use these skills to provide high-quality disease management and symptom palliation to all seriously ill patients. Come to this session to learn strategies for assessing and addressing the palliative care needs of your patients. It may be as simple as asking the right questions.

Loved the topics covered and plan to come to the Portland conference in Oct and will bring the other mid level from our clinic. The hotel did a great job with the room and food. No complaints! Very organized and loved the amount of pharmaceutical involvement and support.
