Course Overview
The goal of the summit is to foster collaboration, share best practices and provide a forum for peer-to-peer interaction among Advanced Practice Providers (APP) in clinical practice who are actively engaged in the care of oncology patients.  This summit will provide APP learners a broad overview of the latest developments and important current concepts in the multidisciplinary treatment of oncology patients.  Additionally, the summit offers an intimate learning environment to facilitate interaction between learners and faculty so that clinicians can discuss practical patient management issues and then apply their learning once they return to practice.

Intended Learners
Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Oncology Pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals involved in the management of oncology patients.

Summit Learning Objectives

  1. Select appropriate oncologic treatment regimens to maximize tumor response and minimize adverse reactions
  2. Review common hereditary cancer syndromes and guidelines for management
  3. Institute strategies to prevent and treat the dermatologic side effects of cancer therapies
  4. Develop management plans for the prevention of venous thromboembolism (VTE) in cancer patients
  5. Discuss fertility concerns with men and women with cancer to improve their awareness and understanding of available fertility preservation options
  6. Review the clinical effects and research findings related to use of marijuana in patients with cancer
  7. Define oncologic emergencies and explain management strategies that reduce morbidity and mortality
  8. Outline the requirements for implementing an institutional survivorship care plan
  9. Review evidence-based recommendations for incorporating palliative care into standard oncology care
  10. Identify pre-treatment cardiovascular risk and manage cardiotoxic side effects in patients with cancer and in cancer survivors to reduce cardiovascular complications
  11. Discuss the current practice-based challenges faced by advanced practice providers in oncology practice

CE Information

AAPA
This program has been reviewed and is approved for a maximum of 12.00 AAPA Category 1 CME credits by the AAPA Review Panel. PAs should claim only those credits actually spent participating in the CME activity.

This program was planned in accordance with AAPA CME Standards for Live Programs and for Commercial Support of Live Programs.

AANP
This educational activity will be submitted to the American Association of Nurse Practitioners for approval of up to 12.0 contact hours of accredited education (which includes 1.75 hours pharmacology).

ACPE
The Washington State Pharmacy Association is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a Provider of continuing pharmacy education. 

This conference is approved for up to 12.0 credit hours by the Washington State Pharmacy Association. 

ANCC
This activity has been submitted to Oregon Nurses Association for approval to award contact hours. Oregon Nurses Association is accredited as an approver of continuing nurses education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
